Wozniak’s space company, Privateer, secures $56.5 million in funding and acquires Orbital Insight.

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak’s space data startup, Privateer, has raised $56.5 million and acquired the analytics firm Orbital Insight. This merger will enhance Privateer’s space data offerings by adding mapping and intelligence services, according to Privateer’s CEO in an interview with Reuters.

Founded in 2021, Privateer aims to assist satellite operators in navigating Earth's increasingly crowded orbit. The company closed its Series A funding round in April, led by space-focused venture capital firm Aero X Ventures, with participation from Lux Capital, BOKA Group, Starburst Ventures, and the Winklevoss twins. The announcement is expected later on Monday.
